Setting Up Web Code

To configure Web Code back end you need to supply Code workspace path and MSBuild path. It needs to be configured inside web.config.

CodeWorkspacePath

In order for code-editor to be able to operate files properly in the back end you need a folder in web site environment that is readable and writable. When you have that dedicated folder you can update web.config and specify the location.

<appSettings>
    <add key="CodeWorkspacePath" value="C:\sc\aspbuild"/>
</appSettings>

Once configured Download delivery action and others can be used inside web code editor.

MSBuildPath

C# and VB projects are first class citizens in code-editor work spaces. So back end needs to have MSBuild available. If it is not installed already you should install standalone MSBuild inside your web back end environment. Depending on requirements install additional extensions. Once MSBuild is in place it needs to be configured inside web.config. MSBuildPath should specify full path to MSBuild.exe.

<appSettings>
    <add key="MSBuildPath" value="C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2019\BuildTools\MSBuild\Current\Bin\MSBuild.exe"/>
</appSettings>

When MSBuild path is configured correctly MSBuild delivery action can be used inside web code editor.
